Overview

MicroRNA 6085 (MIR6085) is a short, non-coding RNA molecule (20–24 nucleotides) that belongs to the large family of microRNAs. These molecules are transcribed as longer primary transcripts, processed in the nucleus and cytoplasm by Drosha and Dicer enzymes, and loaded onto the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). Mature miRNAs pair with partially complementary sequences within target mRNAs, resulting primarily in translational repression or destabilization of those mRNAs. MIR6085's specific biological roles are not well-characterized, but the general function of microRNAs encompasses critical regulation of gene expression in numerous cell and developmental processes, with broad involvement in disease mechanisms wherever gene regulation is disrupted. MIR6085 has been associated with Ebstein anomaly, but its mechanistic role in this or other conditions has not yet been established in the literature.
