Overview

MicroRNA 6086 (MIR6086) is a short (20-24 nucleotides) non-coding RNA molecule transcribed by RNA polymerase II. It is processed through sequential cleavage by Drosha and Dicer ribonucleases to its mature form. Mature microRNAs, including MIR6086, are loaded into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), where they recognize partially complementary target mRNA sequences and typically suppress protein synthesis either by inhibiting translation or promoting mRNA degradation. MIR6086 is affiliated with the miRNA molecular class, and gene database references associate it with pancreatic cystadenocarcinoma, but comprehensive functional or mechanistic studies specific to MIR6086 are lacking. MicroRNAs like MIR6086 are important regulators in normal physiology and disease, especially in cancer, by affecting cell signaling, proliferation, differentiation, and survival.

Mechanism of action

Not established; microRNAs act by being incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) which binds and modulates target mRNAs, most often resulting in translational inhibition or destabilization of the target mRNA
