microRNA 6501 (miR-6501) is a single-stranded, non-coding RNA molecule of ~21-23 nucleotides that belongs to the microRNA (miRNA) family. It is annotated as "hsa-mir-6501" in the human genome. Like other microRNAs, it acts post-transcriptionally to regulate gene expression, usually by binding to complementary sites within target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), leading to mRNA degradation or inhibition of translation[3][4]. miR-6501 specifically has been reported as part of a diagnostic and prognostic microRNA signature in breast cancer and is considered essential for the growth of certain 3D breast cancer tumoursphere models[1]. However, there are no known or validated direct drug interactions, well-characterized targets, or established therapy strategies focusing on miR-6501. Literature on miR-6501 is sparse compared to extensively studied miRNAs. There is no evidence supporting its classification as a therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or other druggable protein)[1][3][4].
