Overview

MicroRNA 6508 (MIR6508) is a predicted human microRNA, a type of short (20–24 nt) non-coding RNA molecule involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression by pairing with target mRNAs and inhibiting their translation or promoting their degradation. MIR6508 is an RNA gene affiliated with the miRNA class; it is produced through canonical miRNA biogenesis involving Drosha- and Dicer-mediated cleavage. While miRNAs as a class are involved in a wide variety of cellular processes and human diseases, there is currently no evidence that MIR6508 acts as a therapeutic target, is implicated in any specific biological function or disease, or interacts with drugs. No unique role, disease association, or biomarker value is described for MIR6508, and it does not appear in curated lists of functional or cancer-associated miRNAs[2][7].
