Overview

microRNA 6726 (MIR6726) is a small, endogenous, non-coding RNA molecule identified in humans (hsa-miR-6726). MicroRNAs act by binding to complementary sequences within target mRNAs, resulting in repression of target gene expression, either by promoting mRNA degradation or inhibiting translation[2][4]. MIR6726 has been identified as differentially expressed in serum samples from colorectal cancer patients, implicating it as a potential diagnostic biomarker[1]. Predicted target genes of MIR6726 include mitogen-activated protein kinase 1 (MAPK1), suggesting possible involvement in major signaling pathways relevant to tumorigenesis. However, experimental validation of its biological functions and disease associations remains limited.
