MicroRNA 6834 (MIR6834) is a human microRNA gene that encodes a short (20-24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. Like other microRNAs, MIR6834 is processed through a canonical biogenesis pathway involving transcription by RNA polymerase II, enzymatic cleavage by Drosha and Dicer, and incorporation into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to mediate translational inhibition or destabilization of target mRNAs. There is currently very limited or no specific functional, disease association, or drug interaction data available for MIR6834 itself. MicroRNAs as a class are important regulators in a range of biological processes and diseases, but MIR6834 does not currently qualify as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or disease biomarker by conventional standards.
