microRNA 6835-3p (miR-6835-3p)

Target
miR-6835-3p
Molecular classification
MicroRNA, Non-coding RNA
01

Overview

microRNA 6835-3p (miR-6835-3p) is a small non-coding RNA molecule involved in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. It directly targets the mRNA of adiponectin receptor 1 (AdipoR1) in pancreatic islet cells, suppressing its expression and thereby inhibiting glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. Experimental data indicate that inhibition of miR-6835-3p can promote insulin release, highlighting a possible therapeutic strategy for improving beta cell function in type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Mechanism of action

Inhibitors of miR-6835-3p may relieve repression of AdipoR1, thereby promoting glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. Mimics of miR-6835-3p suppress AdipoR1 expression, inhibiting insulin secretion.
