MicroRNA 6872 is a short, non-coding RNA molecule (20-24 nucleotides) belonging to the microRNA family. MicroRNAs are transcribed as primary transcripts (pri-miRNAs), processed in the nucleus and cytoplasm by Drosha and Dicer RNases, and incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). They function as post-transcriptional regulators of gene expression by binding to target mRNAs, leading to inhibition of translation or mRNA destabilization. Although microRNAs in general play crucial roles in cellular processes such as development, differentiation, and disease (especially cancer), there is currently no detailed functional or clinical information distinctive to MIR6872 beyond its sequence and classification as a human microRNA gene[4][2][5].
