Overview

MicroRNA 7156 (MIR7156) is classified as a microRNA, a short non-coding RNA molecule (typically 20-24 nucleotides) that regulates gene expression by binding to target mRNAs, resulting in their translational inhibition or destabilization. MicroRNAs, including MIR7156, are transcribed by RNA polymerase II as part of longer primary transcripts, processed into precursor miRNAs by Drosha, and finally into mature miRNAs via Dicer. The mature microRNA functions by incorporating into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), directing the complex to specific mRNAs for regulation[2]. As of now, MIR7156 does not have established disease associations, recognized interacting drugs, mechanisms of drug action, or biomarker utility listed in major databases. There is limited or no published functional or clinical information supporting its status as a therapeutic target.
