Target intelligence / Profile preview
MicroRNA 7157 (MIR7157) is a predicted, short (20–24 nt) non-coding RNA classified as a microRNA (miRNA), which are involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression in multicellular organisms by affecting both the stability and translation of target mRNAs. Like other miRNAs, MIR7157 is transcribed by RNA polymerase II, processed through a stem-loop precursor, and incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) that guides mRNA target recognition and gene silencing. There is currently limited or no published functional, disease association, or drug targeting information specific to MIR7157, and it is not recognized as a therapeutic target or established biomarker. "MicroRNA 7157" (MIR7157) is listed in gene databases as a putative miRNA gene, but there is no evidence in the search results of any known function, disease association, or therapeutic targeting. There are no specific drugs or biomarker uses reported for MIR7157, nor is it implicated in any molecular pathways or disease mechanisms. The gene is not identified as a therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.), as there is no evidence of its protein product or role in a pharmacologically actionable pathway. It is considered incorrect because, while MIR7157 is formally cataloged as a miRNA gene, it is not an established therapeutic target, and there is insufficient scientific literature to support its biological or clinical relevance at this time. There is also a risk of confusion with similarly named targets or misinterpretation as an established gene.
