Overview

microRNA 764 (MIR764) is a short non-coding RNA molecule of the microRNA class found in humans and other species. MicroRNAs regulate gene expression mainly by complementary base pairing with target mRNAs, leading to translational repression or mRNA degradation[2][8]. The mature forms, miR-764-5p and miR-764-3p, are involved in various cellular processes, including promotion of osteoblast differentiation, by negatively regulating proteins such as CHIP at the post-transcriptional level[2]. Changes in miR-764 expression have been linked to roles in cancer biology and may serve as biomarkers for diseases such as hepatocellular carcinoma[3]. MIR764 does not encode a protein and is not a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme, but its regulatory effects may have translational or therapeutic relevance.
