MicroRNA 7973 (hsa-miR-7973) is a human microRNA encoded within an intron of the *CYP19A1* gene. It acts as a post-transcriptional regulator by binding to complementary sequences in the 3′ untranslated regions of target mRNAs, leading to mRNA degradation or translational inhibition. hsa-miR-7973 is expressed in ovarian granulosa cells, where it contributes to follicle development and function, partly by modulating processes such as extracellular matrix remodeling and cell-cell communication. Experimentally validated target genes of miR-7973 include *ADAM19*, *PXDN* (Peroxidasin), *FMNL3*, *TGFBR2*, and *ATHL1*, which are implicated in extracellular matrix dynamics, cell adhesion, and possibly signaling pathways relevant to ovarian function.
