Overview

microRNA 7973-1 (MIR7973-1, also known as hsa-mir-7973-1) is a small, non-coding RNA molecule (microRNA) expressed in human granulosa cells and encoded within an intron of the aromatase gene (CYP19A1)[1]. It acts post-transcriptionally to regulate gene expression by binding target messenger RNAs and promoting their degradation or inhibiting their translation. Experimental evidence identified ADAM19, PXDN, and FMNL3 as direct gene targets of hsa-miR-7973-1, indicating roles in extracellular matrix modulation and cell–cell interactions, which may influence granulosa cell function and ovarian follicle development[1]. However, MIR7973-1 is not currently considered a classical therapeutic target, nor are there drugs or approved therapies that directly interact with it[1][3][7]. Its clinical disease relevance remains to be clearly defined.
