MicroRNA 7974 (miR-7974, hsa-mir-7974) is a short non-coding RNA molecule involved in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression. It mediates repression or degradation of target mRNAs, thereby influencing diverse biological processes. miR-7974 is upregulated in several cancer types, including breast cancer, and directly targets autophagy-related genes such as MAP1LC3B, impacting cellular autophagic flux and proliferation. High expression is associated with poor prognosis in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancer and has been proposed as a biomarker for this subtype[1]. Additionally, miR-7974 has been proposed as a diagnostic biomarker for lupus nephritis and has been implicated in pathways including PI3K-Akt, MAPK, and endocytosis[3]. There is also evidence for its involvement in antiviral responses[4]. Its full functional spectrum and therapeutic target validity remain under-researched, and specific drug interactions have not been documented[1][3][4][5].
