Overview

MicroRNA 8053 (MIR8053) is a human microRNA gene that produces a short (20-24 nucleotide) non-coding RNA. Like other microRNAs, it acts as a post-transcriptional regulator of gene expression by affecting mRNA stability and translation. MicroRNAs are transcribed as part of primary transcripts, processed by Drosha (to pre-miRNA) and Dicer (to mature miRNA), and incorporated into the RISC complex to repress target mRNAs[1][3]. The specific biological functions, disease roles, and validated targets of MIR8053 have not been characterized in detail. As with many microRNAs, its general class is important in varied cellular and disease processes; however, no interacting drugs, mechanisms of action for such drugs, or biomarker roles for MIR8053 are currently known in the literature or gene databases[1].
