microRNA 8075 (miR-8075) is a predicted non-coding RNA belonging to the microRNA family and was identified in bioinformatics screens for molecules binding the SARS-CoV-2 genome's 5' untranslated region. Like other microRNAs, it is likely processed from a precursor transcript by DROSHA and DICER nucleases. microRNAs contribute to gene silencing and post-transcriptional gene regulation by base-pairing to target mRNA. The specific biological functions, disease associations, or clinical significance of miR-8075 remain underexplored, though initial predictions suggest a role in viral infectivity for COVID-19. There are currently no drugs known to target miR-8075 directly, and its designation as a therapeutic target is not established.
