Target intelligence / Profile preview
microRNA 8078 (MIR8078) is a predicted human microRNA gene found on chromosome 18p11.32 and annotated as a non-coding RNA (ncRNA)[1]. Like other microRNAs, MIR8078 is thought to play a role in the regulation of gene expression by binding to target mRNAs and affecting their stability or translation through recruitment of the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC)[4][5]. The mature sequence and expression, as well as specific physiological roles or disease associations, have not been characterized in the available literature, and there is currently no evidence for its role as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or drug interaction partner[1]. No misspelling or incorrectness is present, but the molecule is poorly characterized and not established as an actionable biomedical target.
