Microtubule affinity-regulating kinase 3 pseudogene 1 (MARK3P1) is a processed pseudogene of the MARK3 gene. As a pseudogene, MARK3P1 does not encode a functional protein and is not considered a direct druggable therapeutic target or receptor. Pseudogenes can carry out biological functions through non-coding RNA mechanisms, such as acting as microRNA decoys to modulate the expression of their parental genes or related pathways, but there is no direct evidence in the literature for a functional or pathophysiological role for MARK3P1 itself. Most notably, similar pseudogenes elsewhere in the genome (e.g., PTENP1, MYLKP1) have demonstrated regulatory functions such as gene expression modulation and disease association—including in cancer—through non-coding RNA-based mechanisms[2][3]. For MARK3P1 specifically, no such roles have been experimentally assigned, and there are no reported drugs, mechanisms of action, biomarkers, or safety concerns associated with this pseudogene[1].
