Microtubule cross-linking factor 3 is a human cytoskeletal protein encoded by the *MTCL3* gene. MTCL3 is part of the SOGA family and acts as a microtubule-binding/organizing factor, with predicted involvement in cytoskeletal arrangement and possibly autophagy regulation. It localizes to the extracellular space and cell membranes, likely serving structural roles within diverse tissues. Unlike some related cytoskeletal linkers such as MACF1, which are extensively characterized, the biological and clinical significance of MTCL3 remains largely unexplored. MTCL3 has been detected in gene association studies with certain developmental syndromes but has not been identified as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, transcription factor, or therapeutic target.
