Overview
Beta-tubulin is a globular protein that forms heterodimers with alpha-tubulin, creating the building blocks of microtubules. Microtubules are essential components of the cytoskeleton, involved in cell structure, intracellular transport, cell division, and cell motility. Abnormal expression or mutations in TUBB are linked to cortical dysplasia, brain malformations, and various cancers, particularly drug resistance.
