Target intelligence / Profile preview
The tubulin beta chain is a highly conserved protein that forms heterodimers with alpha-tubulin, which are the building blocks of microtubules. Microtubules are dynamic cylindrical polymers essential for various cellular processes including structural support, intracellular transport, and cell division. The beta-tubulin subunit plays a critical role in microtubule dynamics and is a target for anti-cancer drugs that disrupt mitosis. Overexpression or mutation of specific tubulin isoforms has been linked to cancer progression, drug resistance, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other diseases.
Inhibition of microtubule dynamics leading to mitotic arrest.
