Mid1-interacting protein 1 (MID1IP1) is a protein involved in the regulation of lipogenesis, notably by up-regulating the enzyme acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACACA) activity and thus promoting the biosynthesis of fatty acids and complex lipids, mostly in the liver. It is also implicated in the regulation of microtubule stabilization. MID1IP1 is localized mainly in the cytosol, particularly associated with the microtubule cytoskeleton. Although it has been linked to some metabolic pathways and is associated with chromosome 1p36 deletion syndrome, it is not known to be a current direct therapeutic target and no specific drugs are approved that modulate its function.
