MID1IP1 antisense RNA 1 (MID1IP1-AS1)

Target
MID1IP1-AS1
Molecular classification
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), Antisense RNA
01

Overview

MID1IP1 antisense RNA 1 (MID1IP1-AS1) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene transcribed from the strand opposite the protein-coding MID1IP1 gene. As an antisense RNA, its function is presumed to involve regulation of gene expression—typically by hybridizing to the corresponding sense mRNA or modulating chromatin status at the locus—but there are no direct functional or mechanistic studies on MID1IP1-AS1 itself in the current literature. Unlike MID1IP1 (a protein), MID1IP1-AS1 does not encode a protein product and is not recognized as a classic therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter. There are no known disease associations, drug interactions, or validated biomarker roles for this lncRNA as of this writing, and its biological significance remains to be elucidated.

03

Biological functions

Regulation of gene expression (general lncRNA and antisense RNA function—no MID1IP1-AS1 functional literature currently available)
04

Disease associations

Not clearly identified as a disease driver or biomarker in published sources as of September 2025; potential for regulatory impact but no documented role in cancer, inflammation, neurodegenerative disease, or others
