Target
MINDY4
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Deubiquitinase, Hydrolase
01

Overview

MINDY lysine 48 deubiquitinase 4 (MINDY4) is an enzyme of the deubiquitinase (DUB) family that specifically removes lysine-48-linked polyubiquitin chains from target proteins, a modification that typically signals proteins for proteasomal degradation[4][1]. MINDY4 is believed to play a role in regulating protein turnover and proteolysis, contributing to cellular proteostasis. It is a member of a newly recognized group of DUBs, the MINDY family, which are selective for K48-linked ubiquitin and are important for fine-tuning protein stability in the cell[1][4]. Mutations in MINDY4 are associated with cone-rod dystrophy 6 and nephrolithiasis[4]. The gene is also known as C7orf67 and FAM188B.
