MIR1302-9 host gene (MIR1302-9HG) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene in the human genome that serves as the host transcript for the microRNA miR-1302-9, part of the placental-specific miR-1302 family[2][5]. The gene does not encode a protein but produces a precursor RNA transcript from which the mature microRNA miR-1302-9 is processed. miR-1302-9, like other miRNAs, modulates post-transcriptional regulation by binding to the 3' untranslated regions of target messenger RNAs, affecting processes related to cellular transportation, localization, system development, and binding/transcriptional regulation[1][5]. The MIR1302-9 host gene itself is not currently recognized as an independent therapeutic target, receptor, or enzyme, but is a genomic locus with regulatory significance as a microRNA host[1][2][5].
