MIR193b-365a host gene (MIR193BHG) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) gene that serves as the host for two microRNAs: miR-193b and miR-365a. It is categorized as a lncRNA because it does not encode a protein but generates RNA transcripts involved in regulation. MIR193BHG is also known by the names lincNORS and HypERlnc, among others, reflecting its responsiveness to hypoxic (low oxygen) conditions and possible involvement in stress responses. Like other miRNA host genes, MIR193BHG likely affects cellular functions both by regulating the expression of hosted miRNAs and possibly through independent functions as a lncRNA. There is evidence that such genes—and their derived lncRNAs—can be involved in cancer by acting as epigenetic regulators or cancer biomarkers. However, to date, no drugs are documented to directly target MIR193BHG, and it does not represent a receptor, enzyme, or classical drug target in therapeutic development[1][2][3][4].
