MIR3681 host gene (MIR3681HG) is a long non-coding RNA gene located on human chromosome 2 (chr2:11829690-12702919, hg38). It is the host gene for microRNA miR-3681, thus functioning as the genomic locus from which this microRNA is transcribed. MIR3681HG itself is a non-coding RNA and does not encode a protein. The microRNA produced from this gene, miR-3681, has been investigated for its role in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression, notably as a regulator of its predicted target gene SHISA7. The MIR3681/HG–miR-3681 pathway might play a modulatory role in gene networks that could impact a variety of biological processes and disease contexts, but it is not a direct therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter.
