Overview

MIR3945 host gene (MIR3945HG) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene in Homo sapiens, found to be differentially expressed in various immune and infectious contexts. Its expression is upregulated in active pulmonary tuberculosis and it has been proposed as a diagnostic biomarker for tuberculosis. In system-level host response studies, expression changes of MIR3945HG have also been associated with differences in the immune response to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infections, particularly in macrophages, and have been reported in transcriptomic analyses of HIV persistence, though the functional mechanism of the gene is not well-characterized. MIR3945HG is not a classical therapeutic target (such as a receptor or enzyme), but may serve as a disease biomarker, particularly in infectious disease contexts[1][2][3].
