MIR3976 host gene (MIR3976HG) is a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) gene. It does not code for a protein but rather produces a non-coding RNA transcript longer than 200 nucleotides, classified within the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) family. LincRNAs such as MIR3976HG are generally thought to play regulatory roles in gene expression, including chromatin remodeling, RNA stabilization, regulating transcription, and acting as enhancers, although the specific biological function of MIR3976HG remains poorly characterized. MIR3976HG has been associated with "Withdrawal disorder" in gene-disease mapping resources, but its direct mechanistic involvement is currently unknown. It is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.
