Overview

MIR4435-2 host gene (MIR4435-2HG) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on human chromosome 2q13, also known as LINC00978, AGD2, AK001796, lncRNA-AWPPH, MORRBID, and other names. It is not translated into a protein but plays a key regulatory role in cancer biology via acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA). MIR4435-2HG modulates tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis, and EMT by sponging microRNAs and regulating downstream oncogenes and tumor suppressors. Clinically, it is consistently overexpressed in a diverse range of solid tumors and some hematological malignancies and correlates with poor prognosis, advanced stage, and therapeutic resistance. Recent studies have implicated it as a potential pan-cancer biomarker and as an upstream modulator of response to drugs like resveratrol, cisplatin, and carboplatin. Due to its expression in peripheral blood, MIR4435-2HG may serve as a non-invasive biomarker for early detection and monitoring of cancer progression[1][2][5][8].
