MIR9-2 host gene (MIR9-2HG) is an evolutionarily conserved long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene that produces alternatively spliced non-coding transcripts and is widely expressed, including in neural tissues[3]. It is orthologous to the human gene in several model organisms and is part of a genomic region associated with neural development and differentiation. Although the MIR9-2 microRNA gene lies adjacent and may have a regulatory link, MIR9-2HG itself is not a well-established therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and does not encode a protein[4][5][6]. It has been associated with some disease contexts (e.g., benign neoplasms), but its precise biological functions and disease mechanisms remain only partially characterized[4]. If structured target information for therapeutic development, druggability, biomarkers, or mechanisms of action is needed, note that MIR9-2HG does not fit the conventional criteria for a therapeutic target at this time[4][5][6].
