MIS18A acts as a scaffold or assembly factor, binding identical proteins and playing a central role in the inheritance of centromeric chromatin and faithful chromosome segregation during cell division[1][7]. This protein localizes mainly to the cytosol and nucleoplasm but is enriched at the centromeric regions of chromosomes, ensuring proper chromosomal architecture and genomic stability[1]. There are no drugs or approved therapeutic agents known to target MIS18A directly, nor are there well-validated biomarker or safety implications attributed specifically to this protein as of the current literature[1][7]. MIS18A is a critical chromatin/kinetochore assembly factor, not a classic therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme. Its disruption may impair cell division and genomic stability, but it is not represented in disease-targeted drug development or biomarker frameworks at this time.
