Mitochondrial dehydrogenases are a group of enzymes located within the mitochondria that play essential roles in cellular metabolism, particularly in energy production and redox balance. These enzymes catalyze oxidation-reduction (redox) reactions, often involving the transfer of electrons from substrates to cofactors such as NAD+ or FAD, which are then used in the mitochondrial electron transport chain to generate ATP.
