Mitochondrial enzyme complexes are large, multi-subunit protein assemblies embedded in the inner mitochondrial membrane. They play a central role in cellular energy production through oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), which generates ATP. The main complexes are Complex I (NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase), Complex II (Succinate dehydrogenase), Complex III (Ubiquinol–cytochrome c oxidoreductase), Complex IV (Cytochrome c oxidase), and Complex V (ATP synthase). They transfer electrons, pump protons, and generate ATP, and their dysfunction can lead to various diseases.
