Target intelligence / Profile preview
Mitochondrial matrix import factor 23 (MIX23), also known as coiled-coil domain-containing protein 58 (CCDC58), is a mitochondrial intermembrane space protein critical for efficient protein import into the mitochondrial matrix, especially when the usual function of translocase of the inner membrane 23 (TIM23) is compromised[1][4]. MIX23 is upregulated under mitochondrial protein import stress, regulated by the transcription factor Rpn4, and is evolutionarily conserved across species[1]. It participates as a stabilizer and regulator of the mitochondrial protein import machinery and is not currently linked to specific diseases or known drug interactions[1][2][4].
