Mitochondrial ribosomal protein L30 pseudogene 1 (MRPL30P1) is a non-coding pseudogene present in the human genome, related by sequence homology to the protein-coding MRPL30 gene. Unlike its parent gene, which encodes a component of the mitochondrial large ribosomal subunit involved in mitochondrial protein synthesis, MRPL30P1 does not produce a functional protein and has no established biological function or role in disease. Pseudogenes such as MRPL30P1 are typically remnants of formerly functional genes that have lost the ability to encode proteins, although in rare cases some pseudogenes have regulatory functions through RNA-mediated mechanisms. There are no documented drugs, biomarker applications, or recognized therapeutic roles for MRPL30P1. As a result, it is not considered a therapeutic target.
