Target intelligence / Profile preview
Mitochondrial ribosomal protein S10 pseudogene 1 (MRPS10P1) is a non-functional genomic DNA sequence related to the functional MRPS10 gene, which encodes a protein component of the mitochondrial ribosome small subunit involved in mitochondrial protein synthesis. As a pseudogene, MRPS10P1 does not produce a functional protein, is not known to play a direct regulatory or functional role, and is not associated with drug targeting or disease. MRPS10P1 is listed in genomic databases as a pseudogene, meaning it resembles a protein-coding gene (MRPS10), but has lost its protein-coding ability. Pseudogenes can sometimes have regulatory RNA functions in rare cases (as has been shown for PTENP1 and a few others), but there is no evidence MRPS10P1 has such a function nor associations with disease or therapeutic interest for this specific pseudogene. The functional MRPS10 gene (not MRPS10P1) codes for a protein found in the mitochondrial ribosome and is involved in protein synthesis within mitochondria, but the pseudogene does not participate in these activities. There are no known drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarkers associated with MRPS10P1. In summary, MRPS10P1 is a non-functional pseudogene, not a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target. Its only known role is as a genomic sequence present in the human genome; it is not relevant for drug targeting, disease linkage, or biological functions.
