MRPS17P9 is a DNA sequence that resembles the parent gene but has accumulated mutations and lacks the capability to produce functional protein. It is classified as a processed pseudogene (arising via retrotransposition) and is annotated in genomic resources, but it has no known biological function, disease association, or utility as a pharmacological target.
