Mitochondrial ribosomal protein S21 pseudogene 5 (MRPS21P5) is a human pseudogene located in the genome. Pseudogenes like MRPS21P5 are segments of DNA that are similar to functional genes (in this case MRPS21, encoding a mitochondrial ribosomal protein), but due to mutations or lack of regulatory elements, they do not produce functional protein. MRPS21P5 is not regarded as a therapeutic target, has no known biological function or role in disease, and does not interact with drugs.
