Target intelligence / Profile preview
Mitochondrial ribosomal protein S31 pseudogene 2 (MRPS31P2) is a non-protein coding pseudogene that is homologous to the gene encoding mitochondrial ribosomal protein S31, a nuclear-encoded component of the mitochondrial 28S ribosomal small subunit. Unlike its parent gene MRPS31, MRPS31P2 does not produce a functional ribosomal protein and lacks experimental evidence for functional protein-coding or disease relevance in humans. It is typically classified as a processed pseudogene and is not considered a therapeutic or pharmacological target. As with other pseudogenes, possible RNA-level regulatory effects cannot be excluded entirely, but no such function has been established for MRPS31P2.
