Mitochondrial ribosomal protein S5 pseudogene 4 (MRPS5P4) is a human gene classified as a pseudogene, corresponding to the mitochondrial ribosomal protein S5 (MRPS5) gene family[1][8][9]. Pseudogenes are non-functional sequences of genomic DNA that are similar to normal genes but are typically non-coding and lack the ability to encode a functional protein[2][1]. MRPS5P4 does not produce a functional protein and is not known to be involved in any biological pathways or diseases. It is not considered a drug target, nor are there interacting drugs or clinical biomarkers associated with it. The parent gene (MRPS5) encodes a structural component of the mitochondrial small ribosomal subunit, but MRPS5P4 itself does not participate in protein synthesis or known regulatory functions[3][5][7][8]. There are no known therapeutic or safety considerations related to this pseudogene.
