MTRES1 pseudogene 1 (MTRES1P1) is a human processed pseudogene corresponding to the mitochondrial transcription rescue factor 1 (MTRES1), annotated by HGNC as a pseudogene without coding potential for a functional protein. Unlike its parental gene MTRES1, which is a mitochondrial RNA-binding protein involved in mitochondrial transcription rescue and quality control of stalled mitoribosomes, the pseudogene MTRES1P1 does not encode any known protein or have assigned functional or disease associations. Although pseudogenes in general may exert effects through regulatory RNA mechanisms or serve as disease biomarkers, there is currently no evidence for MTRES1P1 participating in such functions. It is cataloged for genomic reference and does not serve as a therapeutic or clinical target.
