Mitochondrial translational release factor 1 like pseudogene 1 (MTRF1LP1) is a non-coding pseudogene found in the human genome with high sequence similarity to the functional gene MTRF1L, which encodes the mitochondrial translational release factor 1 like protein[8]. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes such as MTRF1LP1 do not produce functional proteins and typically lack a direct biological function. However, recent research indicates that some pseudogenes may play regulatory roles at the RNA level, including acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or miRNA decoys to influence the expression of related genes[2][4]. There is no evidence that MTRF1LP1 acts as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or is involved in disease mechanisms, pharmacological interactions, or as a biomarker. Its “like” nomenclature refers to sequence homology, not functional analogy.
