Mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase II pseudogene 15 (MTCO2P15) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 11q22.3[8][1]. It is a non-functional genomic sequence derived from the mitochondrial gene for the cytochrome c oxidase II subunit (MT-CO2), but lacks the ability to encode a functional protein or be transcribed into a physiologically relevant product[1][2][8][10]. As a pseudogene, MTCO2P15 is not classified as an enzyme, receptor, transporter, or any other typical drug target or therapeutic molecular entity. There is currently no evidence linking MTCO2P15 to any disease, biological pathway, or clinical biomarker utility[1][2][8][9].
