MTCO3P11, or mitochondrially encoded cytochrome c oxidase III pseudogene 11, is a human nuclear pseudogene found on chromosome 9[7]. It shares sequence homology with the mitochondrial MT-CO3 gene, which encodes subunit III of cytochrome c oxidase, an essential enzyme complex in the mitochondrial electron transport chain[1][2]. However, as a pseudogene, MTCO3P11 does not produce a functional protein and is not involved in mitochondrial respiration or known pathological processes. It is not a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target, and no drugs, biomarkers, or mechanisms of action are associated with it[7][3].
