MT-ND2 pseudogene 4 (MTND2P4) is a nuclear-encoded pseudogene corresponding to the mitochondrial gene for the NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase core subunit 2 (MT-ND2). Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes like MTND2P4 do not produce functional proteins, and typically bear no direct biological function in cellular metabolism or disease pathways. There is no evidence that MTND2P4 is a therapeutic target or is implicated in specific diseases. Most research and targets focus on the functional mitochondrial gene MT-ND2 rather than its pseudogenes[4][6][8].
