Mitogen-activated protein kinase-activated protein kinase II (MK2) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that plays a central role in cellular stress and inflammatory responses. It is directly regulated by p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) and phosphorylates various substrates involved in cytokine production, mRNA stability, actin cytoskeleton remodeling, and cell cycle regulation.
