Mitogen-activated protein kinase interacting kinases (MNKs) are serine/threonine kinases that are downstream effectors of the MAPK signaling pathways. The two main isoforms, MNK1 and MNK2, regulate mRNA translation by phosphorylating eIF4E. This regulation influences cell proliferation, survival, differentiation, stress responses, inflammation, and tumorigenesis, making MNKs potential therapeutic targets, especially in cancer.
