Overview
Mitogen-activated protein kinase-interacting kinase 1 (MNK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase activated by both ERK and p38 MAP kinases. It regulates mRNA translation through phosphorylation of eukaryotic initiation factor 4E (eIF4E). MNK1 plays a protective role against pathological cardiac remodeling and is also implicated in cancer progression, making it a potential therapeutic target.
