Target intelligence / Profile preview
MEK2 is a dual-specificity protein kinase that plays a central role in the RAS/RAF/MEK/ERK signal transduction cascade. It phosphorylates and activates ERK1 and ERK2, which are critical for transmitting mitogenic signals. MEK2-mediated signaling regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell migration. Dysregulation of MEK2 is implicated in cancer and developmental disorders like Cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome.
